Calcium and Pregnancy

Question: from Stephanie

I got to your site from another website recommending you for fish oil supplements. I am currently pregnant and taking flaxseed oil, which I found out was not recommended.I am ordering your fish oil based product.

Long story short, I started looking at the other products that you have. Do you recommend the Coral Calcium for pregnant women? I do need to take more Calcium and I already had some bone loss to begin with. My worry is that some herbal suplements are not recommended during pregnancy as they can induce labor. Is it OK to take the Coral Calcuim supplements?

Answer: from Warren

I would want to play it safe and say no to our Calcium/phyonutirent supplement.  Although the amount of herbal supplements are fairly minimal in that product I would prefer it if you got a simple calcium citrate/magnesium supplement with Vitamin D from your local health food store and used that instead.

Also, make sure you are taking a good quality pre-natal multi-supplement with extra folic acid.  After you have had your child then you could consider our Total Balance Unisex whilst you are still feeding…but check with your Doctor first.

Regarding extremely thin hair: I have extremely thin hair. I was born with good hair but have constantly lost a lot of hair for a long time. Now as it stands, you can see the scalp on my head. I am a woman and this hair loss is extremly challenging emotionally to say the least.

What advise would you have for me?
